Summary:

As the Business Systems Analyst, you will lead business value stream development and the systematic identification, analysis, management, monitoring and improvement of stakeholder relationships in order to target and improve mutually beneficial outcomes and align technology to meet business needs.
 
 The Business Systems Analyst role is distinguished by the advanced level of responsibility, complexity of work, and the independence exercised. You may also provide functional and/or technical guidance to project teams or newly hired employees.

Essential Functions:

  • Troubleshoots and serves as a key contributor to project deliverables and outcomes. 
  • Works closely with the business stakeholders to understand and document their requirements for new or enhanced systems. 
  • Conducts interviews, workshops, and analysis to ensure comprehensive understanding of business needs and intended outcomes.
  • Analyzes existing business processes, systems, and workflows to identify areas for improvement. 
  • Documents business processes, user requirements, and system specifications to provide a clear understanding for the business stakeholders, internal IT developers, and vendors who will be responsible for building and implementing the solution. 
  • Utilizes principles and tools to manage and analyze data. 
  • Collaborates with technical teams to design solutions that meet business requirements. This may involve creating functional specifications, data models, and system design documents.
  • Acts as a communication bridge between business stakeholders, internal IT teams, and vendor resources. Ensures that all parties have a clear understanding of each other's needs and constraints for successful solution delivery. 
  • Assists in the development of test plans and test cases. Works with impacted stakeholders and users to build out test plans that validate the functionality and intended business value of the solution. Troubleshoots and manages issues through the testing phase and reports test progress to the project team. 
  • Supports the implementation of new systems or system enhancements. This may involve coordinating with a variety of teams, stakeholders, and vendors to ensure all work needed for successful implementation is completed successfully.  It may also include creating and delivering user training. 
  • Identifies opportunities for process improvements and system optimizations. Stays informed about industry trends and emerging technologies that may benefit the organization. 
  • Assesses and manages risks associated with proposed solutions. Anticipates potential issues and work to mitigate them before they become problems. 
  • Provides ongoing support to end-users, addressing issues and inquiries related to implemented systems. Collaborate with IT and vendor teams to ensure timely resolution of problems. 
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.









EDUCATION:  
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Computer Science, Information Systems, Electronics Engineering, Voice/Data Communications, Public/Business Administration or a related field preferred. Relevant work experience, professional training, and certifications may be considered in place of a Bachelor's Degree.
 
EXPERIENCE
Possession of a minimum of 3 years of experience in business or systems analysis, requirements gathering, operational or system documentation development and/or process reengineering
 
LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS:
Highly Desirable: Certifications in Business Analysis (CBAP, PMI-PBA, CCBA, ECBA, IREB), Lean, Six Sigma, User Experience Design, or related fields.

  • Document  current state and future state and assessing the user experience and system requirements to move from current to future state
  • Knowledge of project management and coordination practices
  • Prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage and/or participate in multiple projects concurrently.
  • Process improvement methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, or BPM. 
  • Identify opportunities for efficiency gains and quantify the benefit of implementing efficiencies.
  • Elicit and document clear and comprehensive business requirements.
  • Conduct interviews, surveys, and workshops to gather information.
  • Understanding of quality assurance processes to ensure solutions meet business requirements.
  • Participate in testing and validation processes.
  • Assess the impact of changes and facilitate smooth transitions.
  • Learn new technologies and stay updated on industry trends.
  • Understand the organization's business goals, strategies, and industry trends.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with technology implementations.
  • Conduct risk assessments.
