Microsoft Dynamics 365 Consultant Staffing
The consultant a generalist agency sent you knows Business Central. Your project is a Finance & Operations rollout for a distributor with four warehouses. Those are not the same person, and finding out three weeks into the engagement is expensive. KORE1 places Dynamics 365 consultants for the exact cloud you run. Finance & Operations, Business Central, or Customer Engagement. Contract, contract-to-hire, or direct placement.

A Dynamics 365 consultant staffing agency recruits and vets consultants for the specific Dynamics 365 cloud you run, whether that is Finance & Operations, Business Central, or Customer Engagement. These are three different products with three different talent pools. A good staffing partner matches the consultant to the platform and verifies real implementation history instead of a keyword on a resume, because the gap between “worked on a Dynamics project” and “led the Finance configuration through go-live” is the gap between a clean cutover and a six-figure delay.

Which Dynamics 365 Do You Actually Mean?
Almost every intake call we take starts with “we need a Dynamics 365 consultant.” That phrase covers three different products built for three different kinds of company, and picking the wrong pool is the most common way a Dynamics search stalls before it starts.
Finance & Operations
The enterprise tier, formerly Dynamics AX. Finance, Supply Chain Management, Manufacturing, Warehouse. This is where large distributors, manufacturers, and multi-entity companies live. F&O consultants split into functional leads who configure modules and technical developers who write X++ and build integrations. A senior Finance lead who has closed two multi-entity F&O rollouts is a very different hire than a Business Central generalist, and confusing the two on the intake call is how the first month quietly disappears.
Business Central
The mid-market tier, formerly NAV, and the platform Microsoft is steering every Dynamics GP customer toward. Smaller footprint, faster implementations, and often a single consultant wearing finance, inventory, and light development hats at once. The best BC people are generalists by necessity. That breadth is a feature here, not the red flag it would be on an F&O program.
Customer Engagement
The CRM side. Sales, Customer Service, Field Service, and Marketing, all built on Dataverse and the Power Platform. CE consultants overlap heavily with Power Platform developers, so a Field Service implementation often needs a functional consultant and a Power Apps or Power Automate builder working side by side rather than one unicorn who claims to do both.
Dataverse and the Power Platform sit underneath all three, and Copilot now reaches into each of them, so the lines blur more every release. We still scope every requisition to one primary track before we source. It saves about ten days of intake back-and-forth that otherwise wanders.
Implementations, Migrations, and Post Go-Live Support
A greenfield Finance & Operations build needs different talent than a Dynamics GP-to-Business Central migration, and neither looks like steady-state support once real users are in the system. We staff all of it.
New implementations. Full lifecycle, from requirements through go-live and hypercare. We recruit functional leads, X++ and Power Platform developers, data migration specialists, and change management resources for programs that usually run 6 to 14 months depending on module count.
Migrations off legacy Microsoft ERP. This is the busiest lane in the market right now. Dynamics AX 2012 hit end of support in January 2023, and Microsoft stopped selling new Dynamics GP subscriptions in April 2026. Both roads lead to the cloud, AX to Finance & Operations and GP to Business Central, and both need consultants who know the legacy system and the target platform. That dual fluency is rare. It is exactly the profile our recruiters are built to find.
Post go-live optimization. The first 90 days after go-live decide whether the project stabilizes or starts bleeding budget. We place consultants for hypercare, performance tuning, user adoption, and the configuration adjustments that always surface once the warehouse team actually starts scanning.
Ongoing managed support. Some companies want a permanent Dynamics function without building one from scratch. We provide contract staffing for admin, reporting, and enhancement work, and our managed IT staffing page covers longer-term application support arrangements.

The Migration Wave Is Reshaping the Dynamics Talent Market
Two Microsoft deadlines are pushing thousands of companies onto Dynamics 365 at the same time. Dynamics AX has had no supported version since AX 2012 R3 exited its support lifecycle in January 2023, which leaves every remaining on-prem AX shop running unpatched. And Dynamics GP is winding down, with new subscription sales closed as of April 2026 and Microsoft pointing those customers at Business Central. The demand curve moved before the supply curve did.
What that looks like in the field is fairly consistent. A mid-market manufacturer that “evaluated” a move off AX in 2023 is now calling three staffing partners at once because their internal Dynamics person is booked through Q3 and the CFO has finally connected “unsupported ERP” with “audit risk.” A nonprofit on Dynamics GP is discovering that the accountant who ran their Great Plains chart of accounts for fifteen years has no interest in learning Business Central’s dimension model, so they need a consultant who does. Add Copilot and the Power Platform to the mix, where Microsoft is shipping AI agents into Finance, Sales, and Customer Service faster than most teams can absorb them, and the skills that command a premium are shifting inside a single product year.
The scarce profile in 2026 is not “knows Dynamics.” It is a consultant who has actually moved a company off AX or GP and lived through the cutover.
If a migration is on your 2026 or 2027 roadmap, the consultants who have already done that exact move are getting booked early. Waiting until the last two quarters before your deadline means competing for them at peak rates against everyone else who waited.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of computer systems analysts, the category that absorbs most ERP functional work, is projected to grow faster than the average for all occupations through 2033. Enterprise application specialists inside that category are growing faster still.
Dynamics 365 Consultant Salary Ranges by Role
Ranges reflect full-time base salaries for mid-to-senior U.S. consultants in 2026. Contract rates typically run 25 to 45 percent higher once benefits and PTO are stripped out. For a deeper breakdown by seniority and region, see our Dynamics 365 consultant salary guide.

How to Vet a Dynamics 365 Consultant Before You Hire
Dynamics resumes inflate like any other enterprise platform. “Involved in” is carrying a lot of weight on most profiles. Here is what we screen for, and what you should push on in your own interviews.
- Right cloud, not just “Dynamics.” A candidate who spent five years on Customer Engagement is not your Finance & Operations lead. Confirm which product, which modules, and which version. The AX-to-F&O and NAV-to-BC lineage matters more than the “Dynamics 365” label on top.
- Configuration, not exposure. Did they configure the module or run test scripts during UAT? Ask for three specific things they personally built or set up. Vague answers here are the single most reliable warning sign.
- Migration scars. If the role involves moving off AX or GP, ask about a data migration that went wrong and how they fixed it. Anyone who has actually done a cutover has a story. People who only trained on the platform don’t.
- Power Platform depth for CE roles. Customer Engagement work almost always touches Power Automate, Power Apps, and Dataverse. A CE consultant who can’t talk through a real flow or a canvas app they built is a functional-only hire, which may be fine, but you should know that going in.
- References from the process owner. The controller or operations director who lived with the configuration after go-live tells you far more than a project manager who rotated off at hypercare.
We run this screen before anyone reaches your inbox. If you want the full question set, our Dynamics 365 consultant interview questions are organized by cloud and seniority, and our guide to hiring a Dynamics 365 consultant walks through the whole process end to end.

Common Questions About Dynamics 365 Consultant Staffing
How much does a Dynamics 365 consultant cost per hour?
Contract rates in 2026 run roughly $85 to $180 per hour in the U.S., and which Dynamics 365 you mean drives most of that spread. Finance & Operations leads and solution architects sit at the top because the pool is thin and the clients chasing them are usually on a migration clock. Business Central and Customer Engagement consultants land in the middle. Entry-level Power Platform work sits at the low end. Offshore blended rates go lower but carry a coordination cost that tends to show up during cutover.
What is the difference between a Dynamics 365 consultant and a developer?
A consultant is usually functional. They configure modules, map business processes, write specs, and train users. A developer writes the code, X++ on Finance & Operations or Power Platform and Dataverse work on the Customer Engagement side. Smaller Business Central projects often put both hats on one person. On any real F&O program they are separate roles, and the distinction matters when you scope the budget. If you specifically need the technical side, our Dynamics 365 developer staffing page covers that.
How do I know whether I need Finance & Operations, Business Central, or CE talent?
Start with the product you actually run, not the umbrella “Dynamics 365” name. Finance & Operations powers large manufacturers, distributors, and multi-entity finance, and it descends from Dynamics AX. Business Central is the mid-market and small-business platform, and it is where Microsoft is moving Dynamics GP customers. Customer Engagement is the CRM side, Sales, Customer Service, and Field Service on the Power Platform. If you tell us the product and the modules on your intake call, we scope the right pool before we source a single candidate.
How long does it take to place a Dynamics 365 consultant through KORE1?
Two to three weeks to first qualified submittal is our average for standard roles. Specialized ones run longer. A senior F&O Finance lead with multi-entity and Copilot experience, or a Field Service consultant with heavy Power Automate work, can take four to six weeks because that bench is genuinely small. We set the timeline honestly on the intake call rather than promise a number we know we can’t hit.
Should we staff an implementation with contract or direct hires?
For the implementation itself, contract usually wins. The work has a defined start and end, and paying full-time comp plus benefits for a role that evaporates after hypercare is hard to justify. For the internal team that lives with the system afterward, direct hire makes more sense. Plenty of our clients run a hybrid, contract for the build, direct hire for steady state, and near hypercare we often convert one or two of the strongest contractors into full-time offers because both sides already know the fit is there.
Do Dynamics 365 consultants need Microsoft certifications?
Not strictly, but they help. Microsoft’s role-based certifications, like the Finance Functional Consultant Associate or the Business Central Functional Consultant, signal that someone has stayed current as the platform ships two major waves a year. Hands-on project history still matters more than any badge. We ask about certifications and weight a portfolio of real implementations and migrations far more heavily when we decide who to present.
What makes KORE1 different from other Dynamics 365 staffing agencies?
Two things. First, our recruiters come out of the IT staffing side of KORE1, so they talk to Dynamics candidates about X++, Dataverse, and migration scope in real terms instead of reading a keyword checklist. Second, we vet for the right cloud and implementation-complete experience, not “exposure.” A candidate who ran UAT scripts during a go-live is not a senior functional lead, and we won’t present one as if they were. That screen is why our submittal-to-interview ratio runs higher than most partners we compete with. For the broader enterprise picture, our ERP consultant staffing page covers Oracle, SAP, and NetSuite too.
