Angular Developer Salary Guide 2026: The Title Pays Less Than the Work

Angular developers in the U.S. earn about $108,000 at the median in 2026, with senior engineers paid $130,000 to $175,000 in base and leads and architects reaching $215,000. The low median comes mostly from who uses the job title. On federal wage filings, the “Angular Developer” title belongs overwhelmingly to IT consultancies, and consultancy seats pay well under what a bank or software company pays for the same skill.

Two numbers explain most of this page. $108,100 and $135,980.

The first is the median base salary on 73 H-1B wage filings for Angular-titled jobs in 2025. The second is the federal median for software developers as a whole. Same skill set, roughly. A $27,880 difference. KORE1 runs an Angular staffing practice, so I’ll admit I have a reason to want you to think this hire is tricky to price. It is, though. When I wrote our guide to hiring an Angular developer earlier this year, the salary section pulled from five sites that disagreed by $60,000. This page goes underneath those sites and asks who is actually being counted.

What Does an Angular Developer Salary Actually Measure?

An Angular developer salary is the pay for a software engineer who builds and maintains web applications in Google’s Angular framework, usually in TypeScript with RxJS. Public figures disagree because each source counts a different slice of those engineers, from consultancy seats billed out by the hour to senior architects on a bank’s own payroll.

Here’s what seven sources say right now.

SourcePopulationNumber reportedRange
Payscale, job title13 people whose title is “Angular Developer”$72,348 average base$64K to $95K
BLS, May 2025All web developers, 70,190 jobs$92,650 median90th percentile $162,290
Payscale, skillAnyone who lists Angular as a skillAbout $105,000 average baseNot published
Glassdoor, 2026331 self-reported Angular developers$108,123 median total pay$84,853 (25th) to $138,652 (75th)
H-1B filings, 2025Base pay 52 employers wrote on federal visa filings$108,100 median base$64,272 to $160,000
Talent.com, 2026Salaries posted on job ads$122,175 median$100,000 to $150,788
BLS, May 2025All software developers, 1,687,890 jobs$135,980 median90th percentile $214,670

Ignore the Payscale title figure. Thirteen profiles is a dinner party, not a dataset, and the same site puts the Angular skill at about $105,000, which tells you the people who call themselves “Angular Developer” on Payscale are a small and junior crowd. The two federal numbers matter more. The Bureau of Labor Statistics web developer series is where some Angular jobs get coded, and it’s low because it also holds WordPress builders and agency site developers. The software developer series is where the engineer maintaining a 300-screen Angular claims portal at an insurer usually lands, and that’s a $43,330 jump at the median.

Which one is yours? Depends who’s paying.

Who Actually Files the “Angular Developer” Title

Sponsoring an H-1B worker means filing a Labor Condition Application that lists the job title, where the person will work, and the salary offered, and the Labor Department makes those records public. Nobody fills those in to brag. I went looking for every 2025 filing with Angular somewhere in the title and found 73, from 52 different employers, which is a smaller pile than I’d have guessed for a framework this widely used, and the names on it surprised me more than the count did.

Consultancies, nearly all of them. IT services shops, staffing firms, and a few government-services contractors, most with names you’d only know if you’d worked a bench at one, filing for jobs in Irving and Plano and Charlotte and Alpharetta and Reston. Those are the places where the big banks, insurers, and federal agencies buy development by the seat. Charles Schwab is in there, filing for its own team in Southlake. It’s lonely company.

Angular-titled H-1B filingsFilingsLow quarterMedianHigh quarterTop filing
2024, all titles62$99,548$106,000$120,750$171,600
2025, all titles73$91,820$108,100$115,560$160,000
2025, “Senior Angular Developer” only9$105,997$128,877$155,000$160,000

The 2024 median was $106,000, so call it a $2,100 move in a year, which is nothing. A third of the 2025 filings, 25 of 73, came in under $100,000, and one Charlotte filing was $64,272, which I had to read twice. At the other end only five cleared $140,000. Schwab’s Angular and .NET developer in Southlake at $153,000 was one of them. The other four were all senior seats in Northern Virginia, two in Alexandria at $160,000, one in Reston at $155,000, and a $140,000 Leidos filing in Herndon, in a market where a lot of the work runs through federal agencies and a clearance or public-trust check tends to ride along with the job.

Now go look at Glassdoor. Its median total pay for the Angular developer title is $108,123 on 331 salaries, and the top five “popular companies” under that title are, again, consultancies. A federal form and an anonymous website, $23 apart. Glassdoor’s figure includes bonus and the filings don’t, so I won’t pretend it’s an exact match, but I don’t think it’s luck either. Both are mostly measuring the consultancy seat.

Caveats, because these numbers get misquoted. Each record is the pay promised on a visa petition, not evidence anyone signed. Base only. And it skips everyone who didn’t need sponsorship, including plenty of Angular engineers sitting directly on a bank’s or insurer’s own payroll, the group I’d expect to earn more, though honestly I can’t prove that from public data and am going off what crosses my desk in offer letters.

Angular Developer Salary by Experience Level

These are the planning bands we use for salaried Angular hires at product companies, banks, insurers, and healthcare systems, base only, before bonus or equity. They’re the same bands on our Angular service page and in my hiring guide, merged into one table.

LevelBase salary, 2026What moves someone to the top of the band
Junior, 0 to 2 years$70,000 to $90,000Reactive forms and the router without hand-holding, and tests that actually run in CI
Mid-level, 3 to 5 years$100,000 to $140,000Owning a feature area end to end, RxJS that doesn’t leak, comfort with Signals
Senior, 5 to 8 years$130,000 to $175,000A shipped major-version upgrade, NgRx or Signal-based state at scale, mentoring
Lead or architect, 8+ years$165,000 to $215,000Nx monorepo and design-system ownership across teams, an AngularJS exit on their record

Senior is where the sources split widest, so it’s worth slowing down on. Glassdoor’s senior Angular developer page shows a $123,000 median total pay on 37 salaries, with base running $86,000 to $141,000. That’s below our band. Look at whose salaries those are, though, and four of the first five employers listed are consulting firms again. A senior engineer billed out by a consultancy at Dallas rates and a senior engineer on the payroll of a Charlotte bank are not the same purchase, and the bank one is the one most of our clients are making. They pay the band.

Years matter less than the upgrade history. I’d take a five-year engineer who has carried an app across two major versions over a nine-year one who has spent the whole time on Angular 12 and is still writing NgModules for everything, and I’d pay the first one more. Most hiring managers agree with me once they’ve interviewed both. Few write the req that way. If you’re writing that loop now, our questions for screening Angular upgrade experience are matched to the version your app runs.

Where Angular Pays More, and Where the Title Discount Shows Up

Angular concentrates where long-lived enterprise software does. That means the Charlotte banking cluster, Dallas and its northern suburbs, Atlanta’s payments and fintech corridor, and the Northern Virginia stretch of federal contractors around Reston and Herndon. Put the filings next to the BLS software developer median for each metro and something odd jumps out. The gap barely moves.

MetroBLS software developer median, May 2025Angular H-1B filings, 2025 medianGap
Washington, D.C. metro (Northern Virginia filings)$154,930$126,090 (9 filings)$28,840
Charlotte$135,920$108,100 (10 filings)$27,820
Dallas and Fort Worth$133,290$105,997 (14 filings)$27,293
Atlanta$132,960$107,255 (6 filings)$25,705

Four metros, four different costs of living, and the consultancy seat runs $25,000 to $29,000 under the local software developer median every single time. That’s the closest thing to a price tag for the job title I’ve found. It’s also roughly what a hiring manager loses when they look up “Angular developer salary,” see a number near $108,000, and write it into the req for a senior engineer they want on staff for five years.

On the same BLS software developer series, the other metros we recruit in most often run from $166,830 in New York and $160,920 in Los Angeles down through Chicago at $134,380, Raleigh at $132,770, Phoenix at $131,750, and Houston at $129,440, to $122,340 in Columbus. In our searches, remote roles mostly price off the employer’s headquarters band now, with a small haircut for lower-cost states, rather than a separate national remote number.

Version Debt Is Showing Up in the Offer

November 28, 2026. That’s the day Angular 20 loses long-term support, per the official release table on angular.dev, which after that lists only Angular 21, on LTS until June 2027, and Angular 22, the active version since June 3. Everything from v2 to v19 is already off support. Google slowed down too, if you hadn’t noticed. The old six-month cadence is gone, replaced by one major a year with two years of support, so the next one, Angular 23, isn’t due until roughly June 2027.

Why put a release table in a salary guide? Because every claims system, loan portal, and admin console still on Angular 14 or 16 or 19 is carrying an upgrade nobody put in this year’s budget, and the handful of engineers who’ve already walked three apps through those jumps know exactly what that’s worth to a CISO with an audit coming. They price it in. Then there’s AngularJS, the 1.x original, whose support officially ended in January 2022 and which I still find running internal tools at companies that would rather I didn’t mention it.

A composite from the last year of searches, details changed. A regional lender outside Charlotte had a loan-servicing portal on Angular 15, three developers, and a security team asking pointed questions about patch status. They priced the opening off a salary site, $118,000, and posted it as “Senior Angular Developer.” Two finalists turned them down inside a month, one for $142,000 at a bank uptown and one for a contract seat. We rewrote it as senior front-end engineer and upgrade owner, put the version jump in the first line of the posting, and set the base at $150,000. Filled in 19 days. Same budget line, really. They’d just been pricing the wrong job.

Contract Rates and What the Hourly Number Leaves Out

Contract work is where Angular demand is loudest right now, partly because of the upgrade backlog above, and it’s also where the numbers get confusing fast. The filings and Glassdoor are mostly reporting what a consultancy pays its developer. That’s not what the client pays.

  • A $108,100 salary works out to about $52 an hour on a full-time year. Glassdoor shows one consultancy paying its Angular developers $41 to $59 an hour.
  • Senior contract Angular work through a staffing firm usually bills between $75 and $135 an hour in 2026, with NgRx-heavy state work and AngularJS rescues at the upper end.
  • The difference covers employer payroll taxes, benefits, workers’ comp, the time between assignments, and the firm’s margin. Ask any vendor to show you the split. Good ones will.
  • Upgrade projects with a hard date, like the November 28 cutoff, rarely get the bottom of that range.

If the work has an end date, a contract Angular developer for six months is usually cheaper than a salaried senior you have to find something for afterward. If the app is going to outlive the people who built it, and in banking it always does, the direct hire is the better use of the money.

Before you commit to a number, run the exact title and city through our salary benchmark assistant. Then compare it with the framework spread in our frontend developer salary guide and the language-level view in the TypeScript developer salary guide. If the seat leans backend, our software engineer salary guide is the better yardstick.

We’ve been filling technical seats since 2005, in more than 30 U.S. metros. On Angular roles our average time-to-hire is 17 days, and 92% of the people we place are still there twelve months on. Most of the Angular searches that drag past that have one thing in common. The comp band was set from the job title.

Angular Pay Questions We Get on Intake Calls

Angular or React, which one actually costs more to hire?

Short answer, it depends far more on who’s hiring than on the framework, and a senior engineer at a bank costs about the same either way.

The difference is the pool. In the Stack Overflow 2025 Developer Survey, 19.8% of professional developers reported extensive development work in Angular over the past year, against 46.9% in React. Among people still learning to code it was 9.5% against 43.5%. Fewer new Angular engineers are coming up behind the current ones, so the experienced ones get more than one offer. That shows up as speed, not always as a bigger number. You’ll lose the candidate before you’ll lose the budget argument.

Realistically, what does a first Angular job pay?

$70,000 to $90,000 in base for a salaried junior role at a product company or enterprise.

Consultancy entry roles can start lower. The bottom of the 2025 filings was in the mid-$60,000s.

Why does one salary site say $72,000 and another $122,000?

Payscale’s $72,348 comes from just 13 people with the exact title, while Talent.com’s $122,175 is built largely from pay listed on job postings, which skew toward employers that advertise pay.

Neither is lying. They’re just sampling different rooms. Posted ranges also tend to run a little high, since states like Colorado, New York, and Washington require a range and a lot of employers post the widest one they can defend. Glassdoor and the H-1B filings both land near $108,000, and that’s probably the most honest single figure for the title. It’s still the title, not the job you’re hiring for.

Is AngularJS experience worth anything on a resume now?

Some, oddly, as long as it comes paired with modern Angular and at least one migration off the old framework.

Pure AngularJS maintenance work tends to pay at or below the middle of the band. The engineer who has lifted an AngularJS app onto current Angular one route at a time is rarer, and companies stuck on 1.x will pay the top of the senior band for that person because there aren’t many left who’ve done it recently. I’ve watched a hiring manager’s face change when a candidate described doing it twice.

Will Angular pay hold up if the framework fades?

Wrong worry, mostly, because the installed base in banking, insurance, healthcare, and government isn’t going anywhere for years.

The bigger risk to an Angular engineer’s pay is staying on an old version, not the framework itself. Google is still shipping, the release table runs into 2028, and the apps built on it are the kind that last a decade or longer. What fades is the engineer who stopped upgrading.

How much more does a senior Angular contractor cost than an employee?

$75 to $135 an hour is the usual 2026 bill rate for senior contract Angular work, which looks like a lot until you price the full-time version honestly.

A $150,000 salaried engineer is about $72 an hour before anything else. Add benefits, payroll taxes, equipment, and a recruiting fee and the real hourly cost climbs well past that, so for work under about a year the contractor often comes out ahead. Past that, the math usually flips toward hiring.

Before an Angular req goes live with a salary on it, talk to our Angular recruiters. We’ll tell you which of the numbers on this page your candidate is comparing you against, and whether the job title is quietly costing you the hire.
