Temporary Staffing Agency in Los Angeles for Professional and Technical Roles
IT, engineering, accounting and finance people on a defined window, matched to the part of LA the seat physically sits in. In this county, that second half decides the search.
Talk to an LA Recruiter
KORE1 is a Los Angeles temporary staffing agency for professional and technical roles, covering IT, engineering, accounting and finance seats on assignments that usually run six to forty weeks, at an average IT time-to-hire of 17 days.
Los Angeles understands temporary work better than any city in America. Which is exactly the problem.
A hundred years of production hiring taught this town one shape of it. Book a crew for a run, wrap, everybody scatters, and every side understood the deal before anyone signed. It’s a lovely system. It also has almost nothing to do with covering a senior accountant through a seven-month leave, and the instincts don’t carry across.
Two numbers sit behind everything on this page. The Bureau of Labor Statistics counted about 4.58 million nonfarm jobs in the Los Angeles, Long Beach and Glendale metro division in July 2026. They’re spread across 4,700 square miles of county. First number says the person you want is out there somewhere. Second one says you probably can’t reach them.
So our LA intake calls start somewhere odd. Not with the skill. With the address, and with how many weeks.
A controller in El Segundo called us in March. Nine weeks of cover on her senior accountant, good req, fair rate, real work sitting there waiting. Her own team had spent a month sourcing countywide. Sounds diligent. It was the reason nothing landed, because a candidate living in Pasadena will happily think about El Segundo for a career move and won’t think about it for nine weeks. Same resume, different question entirely.
We’ve been placing professionals since 2005 and we work more than thirty US metros. LA is the one where a search that reads perfectly on paper gets killed by a map.
You May Want One of Our Other Two Pages
Three KORE1 pages sit close together on this topic and they answer genuinely different questions. Pick by what you’re covering, not by whatever you typed into the search box.
The need is headcount, not a named skill
Seasonal surge, production floors, warehouse and clerical volume, anywhere in the country. That’s what our temporary staffing agency page is for, along with the light industrial desk. Different bench, different recruiters, same company.
A professional LA seat has a known end
Technology, engineering, accounting, finance and analytics roles inside Los Angeles County, on a window somebody can put a date on. Salaried-calibre people. Billed hourly, for a stated stretch of time.
The seat isn’t going away
Skip temp altogether. Our Los Angeles staffing agency page covers every service we run in the county, permanent hiring included, and it’s the better place to land while you’re still working out which one you need.

Second day on a close she inherited. Nobody slowed it down for her.
A Crew Call Is Not Coverage
Production hiring rests on a genuinely elegant assumption. Everybody turns up already knowing the job, departments have a shape that repeats show to show, and the work starts once the unit’s complete. Professional coverage flips all three.
Here the work is already in the chair, waiting. Nobody eases anybody in. A business systems analyst covering a cutover gets her access Tuesday and fields a question about somebody else’s general ledger on Wednesday, and the number of people who can genuinely do that on a configuration they met the day before is far thinner than the job description suggests.
Then there’s classification, which in California is nobody’s footnote. LA employers reach for a 1099 on reflex, since that’s how the town has always hired short. The ABC test the state applies starts every worker off presumed to be an employee. Prong B then asks whether the work sits outside the usual course of your business. Your close doesn’t. Your reporting doesn’t either.
Hence the W-2. For the length of the assignment the person’s employed by KORE1. Payroll, employment tax and workers’ comp all sit on our side of the line, your headcount doesn’t move, and nobody has the classification argument at all. Day to day they answer to your managers and work your hours. Window shuts, engagement shuts.
One thing this desk won’t do, said plainly. No day labor, no event crews, no warehouse staff, and nobody here is booking a production unit. Those are real KORE1 services with their own benches behind them. They’re just not this one.
Both figures are ours, not the industry’s. Seventeen days is what our technology desk has averaged over the trailing year with every engagement type counted together. Ninety-two percent is the share of KORE1 placements still sitting in the same seat a year later, permanent and temporary alike. A surprising number of those started as a phone call about a gap.
Reach Shrinks as the Window Shortens
Here’s the rule the grid draws. Candidates trade commute against duration, so a long booking pulls from most of the county and a six-week one pulls from whatever fits inside a tolerable morning drive. Orange marks where a live shortlist already exists. One caveat, stated up front. This is our desk’s read from our own LA placements, not a published dataset, and we’d rather show you the thin cells than pretend they aren’t there.

On a phone, scroll the grid sideways.
Deep
A live shortlist inside a week. These people already work in windows. They already drive that direction, and they price against a market they know cold.
Workable
It fills. The list is just short, so expect two or three real candidates rather than eight, and expect a brisk conversation about rate.
Tight
Something has to move. Rate, two remote days, or the window itself. Pick which one at intake and the search stops stalling in week two.
Two rows in there surprise people. Downtown holds up at every length, and that’s geometry rather than money, since it’s the one part of the county reachable from every direction and the only one where rail is an honest answer to a candidate’s commute question. The Westside goes tight at six weeks despite being the richest professional job market in Southern California, because housing pushed the people who hold those jobs a very long way east of their offices. A seat in a tight cell isn’t a lost cause. It’s just something you want to know on day one rather than in week three.

Working out how long the window really runs, before anybody writes the requisition.
California Windows Run Longer Than People Budget For
Most companies scope leave cover against twelve weeks, because twelve is the federal number and it’s been the federal number forever. Out here that’s often wrong. Wrong in the expensive direction, too.
Pregnancy disability leave in California runs up to four months on its own. Somebody who also qualifies under the California Family Rights Act can then take twelve more workweeks for bonding once that disability period ends. Stack those and you’re closer to seven months than to three. Alongside all of it, California Paid Family Leave pays benefits for up to eight weeks, and people plan their return around the benefit calendar, not around your close.
None of it is exotic. At any LA employer with a young workforce it’s the ordinary case, and the coverage you scoped as one quarter routinely turns into two.
What that changes is the bench, not just the budget. Twelve weeks belongs to career contractors who plan a year in blocks and treat the gaps between as a scheduling problem. Seven months reads as a real job. It opens the search to a much wider group, including strong people between permanent roles who’d never glance at a short booking, and that group converts.
So price the tail in at the start. Say at intake that the leave might extend and we’ll write flex into the assignment. Costs nothing now. Saves a panicked re-search in week eleven. And sometimes the honest finding is that the chair was never temporary, in which case four other shapes fit better than this one. Contract staffing for a longer stated term. Contract-to-hire when both sides want a look first. Project staffing when the shortage is capacity rather than a person, or backfill coverage while recruiting runs. Direct hire when the seat was permanent all along.
Five Basins, One LA Desk
We cover the whole county. It simply refuses to behave as one labor market, so here is how our recruiters carve it up, including the thing each basin gets wrong about itself. The same model runs at our Orange County temporary staffing desk and our Dallas-Fort Worth temporary staffing desk. Our Phoenix professional temp staffing desk reads it against the phase of a capital build rather than the basin. In Texas, the Austin professional temp staffing desk reads it against what a big-employer résumé actually covered. Our Houston temp staffing page reads it backward from a date a refinery or the storm season already set.

Downtown & Central LA
DTLA · Mid-Wilshire · Vernon · Commerce · City of Industry
Easiest basin we staff. The reason is geometry, not economics, because everything else in the county points at it. A candidate in Long Beach, a candidate in Glendale and a candidate in Whittier can all reach a Figueroa Street office without rearranging their life, and a decent share of them manage it without driving. Finance, legal and insurance back offices hold the core. Food and apparel manufacturing wrap around Vernon and Commerce, with distribution running out toward the eastern edge.
South Bay & the Harbor
El Segundo · Hawthorne · Torrance · Carson · Long Beach · San Pedro
One question on the first call pays for itself here. Is citizenship or an export-control clearance genuinely required? Aerospace, defense and medical device run this basin, so the answer comes back yes more often than clients expect, and learning it at offer stage instead of at intake burns about three weeks of interviews with people who were never eligible. Windows down here run long too. They get pinned to customer milestones rather than quarters.
Tri-Cities & Pasadena
Burbank · Glendale · Pasadena · Arcadia · Monrovia
Everybody assumes Burbank means entertainment. It mostly doesn’t, at least not for us. What we cover here is the accounting group, the systems group and the health plan back office sitting behind all of it, none of which runs on a production calendar. Pasadena adds a serious engineering and research population on the eastern side. Candidates reach this basin comfortably from the Valley and from the San Gabriel Valley, which is rare in LA and makes mid-length windows unusually straightforward.
Westside & Silicon Beach
Santa Monica · Culver City · Playa Vista · Century City · Marina del Rey
Best reqs in the county. Hardest short windows in the county. Technology, media, entertainment finance and the agencies all cluster here, and the people qualified to fill their seats increasingly live twenty-five miles inland because nothing closer is affordable. Money moves this less than you would think. Two remote days moves it a lot.
The Valleys
Woodland Hills · Van Nuys · Chatsworth · Northridge · Valencia
Warner Center carries financial services and insurance. Chatsworth and Valencia carry aerospace and medical-device manufacturing, with post-production filling in around the edges. The bench up here is deep, and it’s stubbornly local. A Valley assignment gets filled by the Valley or it gets filled slowly. We build the extra week into the plan and say so up front.
Four Desks Covering LA
Technology
Platform, network, service desk, security and the application side. IT staffing in Los Angeles.
Accounting & finance
Month-end, reconciliations, audit support, AP and AR desks. Accounting and finance staffing in Los Angeles.
Engineering
Quality, manufacturing, test, mechanical and electrical roles. Engineering staffing in Los Angeles.
Enterprise systems
ERP, integrations, reporting and the analysts behind them. ERP staffing in Los Angeles.
All four desks sit in one Los Angeles team. That matters more than it sounds. When an intake call turns up a seat that’s really a systems analyst and not a staff accountant, the req moves across the aisle that afternoon instead of restarting.
Common Questions
What kinds of roles do you cover temporarily in Los Angeles?
Technology, engineering, accounting and finance, and analytics roles, running from mid-level individual contributors through interim managers. Day labor, warehouse, clerical and production crew work all live elsewhere in KORE1.
What comes across this desk most weeks is a senior accountant, a financial or business systems analyst, an infrastructure or cloud engineer, a quality or manufacturing engineer, or somebody who owns reporting. Certifications and clearance requirements belong on the first call, not in the offer stage.
How fast can a temporary professional start in LA?
You should see the first profiles within two or three business days, and an uncomplicated Los Angeles assignment often has somebody at a desk in a week to ten days.
Our technology desk averages 17 days to hire across every engagement type, and narrow professional windows normally come in under that, since the bench for them stays deliberately available. Two things set the real floor. One is background screening. The other is how fast your team puts interviews on a calendar.
What does a temporary IT or accounting professional cost per hour in Los Angeles?
Across our own LA assignments, professional temp bill rates tend to sit between the low $40s an hour for a staff accountant and about $140 for a senior cloud or systems engineer.
Mid-level analyst and engineering work bunches in the $60 to $100 band. Now the counterintuitive bit. Per hour, short windows cost more than long ones, since a six-week booking asks the candidate to absorb the cost of finding whatever follows it. Read the ranges as a starting frame. They move with demand, and with how specialised the skill is.
Why does the neighborhood matter so much on a short assignment?
Commute tolerance tracks duration. Somebody will drive forty minutes each way for a permanent job and refuse the same drive for six weeks, so a shorter window physically shrinks the pool that can reach the seat.
It’s the most common reason an LA temp search stalls. It’s also almost never written anywhere in the requisition. So we ask three things at intake. Which site does the person physically have to sit at, can any of the week be remote, and which direction are they driving at 7:40 in the morning. Get it wrong and the assignment dies in week three, by which point the month is gone.
Can we extend the assignment or hire the person permanently?
Both are normal. An extension is usually a change of date and nothing more, while converting someone to your payroll runs through a fee that reduces the longer they have been on assignment.
Tell us early if conversion is even a possibility. Setting it up as contract-to-hire from the start makes the candidate pool bigger, not smaller, because a good number of strong people take an assignment precisely for the chance it becomes permanent. Raising it for the first time in month seven is more expensive and considerably more uncomfortable.
Who employs the temporary worker, and can we just pay them as a contractor instead?
They remain a KORE1 employee for the duration, so payroll, employment taxes and workers’ compensation stay on our books while your managers direct the work. Paying them straight as a 1099 is where California employers get themselves into trouble.
The state’s ABC test starts from the presumption of employment and then asks whether the work falls outside the usual course of your business. Someone closing your books, or maintaining the reporting your executives read, is plainly inside it. Routing the engagement through an agency answers that question in advance rather than during an audit.
How is this different from your general Los Angeles staffing page?
This one is professional and technical coverage on a defined window, and nothing else. The Los Angeles staffing agency page spans everything KORE1 runs in the county, permanent placement included.
Same team, same phone number. Different starting question. Come here when the gap has a rough length attached to it. Go there when you’re filling a permanent chair, or when you haven’t decided which of the two you’re doing.
Tell Us Where the Seat Is and How Long It Runs
Give us the site, the dates you have, and a straight answer on whether the chair survives the assignment. Thirty minutes is usually enough. You’ll come off the call knowing what the role realistically bills at, when profiles land, and which LA recruiter is running it.
