ERP Staffing in Minneapolis for Companies Moving Off a Parent’s Systems

Since 2024, 3M, Medtronic, Polaris and General Mills have each split off or sold a business, and each new owner started life on somebody else’s ERP. We recruit the SAP S/4HANA, Dynamics 365, Oracle Cloud ERP, Epicor and Sage specialists who move it onto its own books before the transition agreement runs out.

For ERP staffing in Minneapolis, KORE1 places SAP S/4HANA, Oracle Cloud ERP, Dynamics 365, Sage and Epicor talent on contract or full time, and 92% of them are on the job past the one-year mark.

Minneapolis and Saint Paul carry an outsized share of big corporate headquarters for a metro this size, and lately a lot of those companies have been coming apart on purpose. Some of it is strategy. Some is pressure from investors.

3M spun off its health care business as Solventum on April 1, 2024. Medtronic took its diabetes unit public as MiniMed in March 2026, then launched an exchange offer in September for much of the stake it kept. Polaris sold a majority of Indian Motorcycle in February 2026, and General Mills sold its U.S. yogurt business to Lactalis during its fiscal 2026 first quarter.

Every one of those deals leaves a company running on systems it doesn’t own.

The new company keeps using the old parent’s ERP, payroll and warehouse systems for a fee, under a transition services agreement, until it has its own. Then it has to leave. By a date.

We’ve recruited ERP teams since 2005, and Minneapolis searches draw on every desk in our ERP consultant staffing group plus ERP recruiters who work more than thirty metros at once. That reach matters when several local companies want the same few SAP carve-out leads. It happens often.

NetSuite has its own desk here. Our NetSuite staffing in Minneapolis page covers the consumer brands that sell to the big retailers down the street. This page sticks to SAP S/4HANA, Dynamics 365, Oracle Cloud ERP, Epicor and Sage Intacct.

Day one of a carve-out. The shelves are empty, and the books still live on the parent company’s system.

Minneapolis ERP Work Often Starts the Day a Company Splits in Two

A transition services agreement is a rental. The parent keeps running payroll, order entry, the general ledger or the warehouse for the business it just let go, and it sends a bill every month until that business can stand on its own systems.

The bills are not small. Solventum’s 2025 annual report puts its transition agreement expenses with 3M at $534 million for 2025, up from $369 million in 2024. That’s the price of time on someone else’s ice. Every month.

So the company builds its own ERP while paying for the old one. Solventum finished the first phase of a new SAP system in the second quarter of 2025 and a second phase, mostly Europe and China, in the first quarter of 2026. Then the U.S. cutover. Its second quarter 2026 report says customers placed about $85 million of orders early, ahead of the U.S. deployment.

Customers worry about cutovers too.

MiniMed is now on the same road. Medtronic says its services agreement with the new company generally isn’t expected to run past 24 months from the March 2026 IPO, and it covers manufacturing, information technology and other support. Polaris gave the buyer of Indian Motorcycle up to eighteen months of services, IT and finance included. Same clock.

The parent sets the exit date. The spun-off company has to staff for it.

Ice-Out

One Minneapolis Carve-Out, Seven Services, Seven Exit Dates

In a real separation the schedule is a contract exhibit. Solventum’s 10-K lists a transition services agreement with 3M beside separate transition distribution and contract manufacturing agreements, and every service line carries its own end date. This chart is invented to show the shape. White slabs are services still on the parent’s ERP, flat bars are the new company’s own system, and orange is open water.

The parent’s ice. Still running on the old system, billed monthly, thinning toward its exit.
Your own shore. The new ERP is live for that service and owns the transactions.
Parallel run. Both systems running at once, so the numbers can be checked against each other.
Open water. The agreement has ended and the replacement isn’t ready. Orders stop moving.

Read the auger line at month fourteen, where EDI has four months of ice left and the Minnesota DNR says four inches of new, clear ice will hold a person on foot. A small car needs 9 to 10 inches. Nobody drives an 856 ship notice feed across four. That one row is where a carve-out quietly fails, because nobody owned the integrations until the date was already close.

Who we’d hire for each part of the chart

The exit sequencer

Someone has to own the dates, line by line, against the agreement and the build plan. MiniMed’s services from Medtronic run up to 24 months, so a lead hired in month six inherits eighteen. That’s a program lead with a finished TSA exit behind them, usually found through our ERP program team staffing desk. Ask which service they’d move last, then ask why.

The data cut

When Solventum sold purification and filtration to Thermo Fisher, distribution, supply chain, IT, finance and customer support all went onto a services agreement of up to 24 months. Every one of those needs its records split before anything moves. Our ERP data migration staffing bench does this work. Slow, careful, unglamorous.

The feeds nobody listed

X12 850 purchase orders, 810 invoices and 856 ship notices with distributors and group purchasing organizations, plus bank files and carrier links, tend to sit outside the TSA schedule. An EDI analyst paired with a Dynamics 365 or SAP integration consultant closes that row. Start early.

The services, months and readouts above are made up, and every real agreement sets its own. The ice figure comes from the Minnesota DNR’s ice thickness guidelines for new, clear ice, which also say to double them on white ice. The DNR has logged Lake Minnetonka’s ice-out since 1855.

Twin Cities Device Makers Renamed Their Quality Records in 2026

Medical device companies ring the north and west metro, from Medtronic’s operational campus in Fridley to Boston Scientific’s campus at Arden Hills. Medical Alley, the state’s health industry association, says organizations in its network employ more than 500,000 people in Minnesota alone. Big cluster.

On February 2, 2026, their rulebook changed. That morning the FDA started enforcing its QMSR, which adopts the international standard ISO 13485:2016 by reference.

The familiar names went away.

The device history record, the device master record and the design history file aren’t ISO 13485 terms, so the final rule moved what they held into the medical device file, the batch record and the design and development file. A good deal of what auditors pull from those files sits in the ERP, which tracks every lot and serial number from component receipt to the finished sterile pouch on the shipping dock. Reports, labels and work instructions that still say DHR all need a second look. Tedious work.

The hardest seat combines both worlds, an SAP or Oracle Cloud ERP manufacturing consultant who has configured lot and serial genealogy and then sat across from an FDA investigator answering questions about it. Spun-off device makers need that person twice, once to rebuild the records and again to prove they still match. Rare people. For the engineers and quality people around that seat, we lean on our medical device staffing recruiters.

Minneapolis ERP Recruiting Across Both Cities and the Suburbs

The Minneapolis-St. Paul metro employed 8,580 computer systems analysts and 21,820 accountants and auditors in May 2025, according to BLS, and the ledger each one inherits changes from one freeway exit to the next. An ice swatch marks a district where that ledger still sits on someone else’s system. Ink covers the rest, and the orange tag points to the role that takes us longest to find.

Ask about the exit

Twin Cities finance leaders don’t open interviews by asking whether a candidate knows SAP or Oracle. Plenty of them ask whether the person has ever moved a business off another company’s system, and what broke when they did. Honest answers only.

Saint Paul and Maplewood

Maplewood · Downtown Saint Paul · Roseville · Woodbury

3M and Solventum both run their businesses from Maplewood, and Ecolab and Securian keep big headquarters in downtown Saint Paul. Solventum has its own separation underway now, after announcing plans to split off its health information systems segment, and it sold its purification and filtration business to Thermo Fisher in 2025 with services promised for up to two years. Separations keep breeding more separations. Controllers and other finance seats in the east metro usually come through our accounting staffing team in Minneapolis.

Minneapolis Equipment Makers Sell Through Dealers Who Finance the Stock

A snowmobile in a dealer’s showroom in October usually isn’t the dealer’s yet. It’s on a floor plan, paid for by a lender and owed back when it sells.

Polaris finances U.S. dealers through Polaris Acceptance, a joint venture with a Wells Fargo subsidiary in which it holds half the equity. Its 2025 annual report puts its potential obligation to buy back dealer stock at about $333.9 million in total, and accrued sales promotions and incentives at $278.4 million at year end. Toro does the same through Red Iron Acceptance, its venture with Huntington, which financed $2,680.9 million of distributor and dealer inventory in fiscal 2025. Big numbers.

That’s a lot of accruals.

Every promotion, holdback and off-season program is booked as a liability when the unit ships and settled months later against what dealers actually sold. Snow products make it seasonal on top of that, with pre-season orders, extended payment terms early in the year and a winter that may or may not show up in any given year. The ERP has to estimate all of it and then true it up without surprising the auditors. Not easy.

So the hire is specific. Look for an SAP S/4HANA sales and distribution consultant who has configured condition contracts and settlement management, or a Dynamics 365 consultant who has built rebate and chargeback logic, preferably at a manufacturer selling through dealers. Few have done both. Plant and maintenance systems around them belong to our manufacturing ERP staffing practice.

Engagement

How Minneapolis Companies Staff an ERP Team

C

Contract

Use contract staffing for a job that finishes on a known day, and a transition services exit has that day written into the contract.

C2H

Contract-to-hire

Bring someone in for the cutover, then make the offer permanent once the new system is theirs to run.

PERM

Direct hire

The finance systems lead who stays after the parent leaves is a direct hire search, not a rental.

SOW

Statement of work

Rebuilding a whole service off the parent’s system suits a fixed team billed per deliverable.

Most Minneapolis calls arrive with a date already printed on them, usually the last day of a services schedule, so we plan the search backward from that date and, when go-live lands, cover it with cutover and hypercare support. The date doesn’t move. Pricing those weeks? See the 2026 hourly rate tables for ERP consultants.

TSA exits lean hard on contractors, and one of them often ends up holding the only copy of how a feed works. Colin Boothe’s consultancy, Foretopia, plans for that in its change control. Whenever a set of deliverables depends on a single subcontracted individual, the engagement record states what work product the firm holds rather than the person, and what backup arrangement exists. Put the same clause in your SOW before month one, and hire an ERP project manager willing to enforce it.

The Minneapolis staffing agency shares a bench with this desk. Same recruiters. Elsewhere in the middle of the country, the same ERP team recruits in Chicago, Denver, Dallas, Houston and Salt Lake City. If a separation needs more than a few people, ERP staff augmentation slots individual consultants into the team you have. On the East Coast, the Philadelphia ERP desk works the unit-of-measure problem behind the city’s per-ounce beverage tax.

Buyers on the other side of a deal use post-acquisition systems integration staffing, merging several live systems is business systems consolidation, and the finance and HR side of a closed deal sits with our M&A integration bench. Different desks. Same building.

FAQ

Common Questions

What ERP systems does KORE1 hire for in Minneapolis and Saint Paul?

SAP S/4HANA, Oracle Cloud ERP, Dynamics 365, Epicor, and Sage in both its Intacct and X3 versions. NetSuite searches go to our Minneapolis NetSuite desk instead. Across those five we place architects, functional leads, developers, data migration specialists, admins and project managers.

What is a transition services agreement in a carve-out?

It’s a contract in which the former parent keeps running some services for the business it separated, for a monthly fee, until that business has its own. Terms vary. Polaris gave the buyer of Indian Motorcycle up to eighteen months, and Medtronic expects its agreement with MiniMed to generally end within 24 months of the March 2026 IPO, and each service usually carries its own exit date.

What does an ERP consultant earn in Minneapolis?

$112,090. Federal OEWS data shows that as the May 2025 median for Minneapolis-St. Paul computer systems analysts, about 6% above the national median of $105,850. Contract rates spread wider, and S/4HANA carve-out experience moves them more than years of tenure do.

How long does a Minneapolis ERP search take?

Roughly seventeen days, our mean across IT searches from the req going live to a signed acceptance. Plenty of Twin Cities ERP roles close in that window. Some faster. Carve-out leads and QMSR-savvy manufacturing consultants take longer, since several local companies are often after the same few people.

What changed for medical device ERP records under the QMSR?

Mostly the names. Since February 2, 2026, the FDA’s quality rule follows ISO 13485, so the device history record, device master record and design history file became the batch record, medical device file and design and development file. Lot and serial tracing in the ERP still has to hold up in an inspection.

Do you recruit in Saint Paul and the suburbs, or only downtown Minneapolis?

Both cities and the whole metro, from Maplewood and Woodbury to Medina, Bloomington and Arden Hills, plus Rochester, Mankato and St. Cloud. Plenty of candidates already cross the river every day, so one search covers both downtowns. Hybrid roles stretch it into western Wisconsin.

Should a TSA exit team be contract or permanent?

Split it down the middle. The exit itself ends on a known date, so the migration, integration and cutover people fit a contract or a fixed-fee SOW. Whoever runs finance systems after the parent is gone should be an employee from the start, because the knowledge has to stay when the contractors leave.
